Nexus 10 2 Rumors: HTC-made 8-Inch Model to Replace 10-Inch and 7-Inch Versions
Google, together with HTC are currently working on a Nexus 8 model that will replace the Nexus 10 and Nexus 7.
A new Digitimes report states that Google will release a slate with an 8-inch display instead of the rumored 8.9-inch iPad mini competitor. HTC will create this tablet that will be known officially as the Nexus 8.
The publication also stated that Google will be "less aggressive" with its tablet strategy for this new Nexus model. The company reportedly feels that it has already accomplished its goal of boosting Android's tablet market penetration and could use Google Play Editions to grow its market share instead of the Nexus line.

The report calls the Nexus 8 a third-gen model which means that it might not only replace the Nexus 10, but will also replace the Nexus 7. If this new model is unsuccessful, Google might end the Nexus line altogether.
Previous rumors have suggested that HTC will create a new Nexus tablet that will measure in at 8.9-inches and will compete with the iPad mini.
Research firm IHN Technology recently stated that Google and HTC are teaming up to create this 8.9-inch "high-performance" Nexus device to replace the Nexus 10. The company's Rhona Alexander claims that volume production for this tablet will begin in July or August. It is expected to be a lower volume product that will carry a premium price tag to support the specs. She did not have any pricing information on the device.
This 8.9-inch model could be a high-end alternative to the Nexus 7 and could replace or compliment the Nexus 10. However, lack of proof that a 10-inch model exists points towards the former.
A previous report from Motoring Crunch claimed that Google had hired HTC to create the new Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. There are also other sources who stated that the new Nexus 10 could be released before the end of Q3 2014.
