Nexus 5 Release Date Could be October 31, Website Leaks Launch Schedule

The Nexus 5 release date could be as early as Oct. 31 after a new alleged information leak has hinted that the device could be unveiled before the end of the month.

A recent tip received by Android Authority confirmed that the company will begin offering the smartphone on the last day of this month. They also stated that operators in Canada will begin launching the device on Nov 7-8. These carriers include Rogers, Bell, Telus, Koodo and Virgin.

This is just a rumor at this time so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Various Google fans were disappointed on Thursday when the company did not utter a word of the Nexus 5 or Android 4.4, KitKat during its media event. Instead, Google focused on music, movies and games and how they are integrated into the company's eco-system. Android Authory's tipster could be on to something with the date it revealed since the device did not make it out at the event.

eBay sellers also hinted at the imminent release when they began offering pre-orders for the Nexus 5. The smartphone was retailing on the site for as much as $700. However, these reserves should be purchased with caution in order to avoid scams.

The Nexus 5 is the successor to last year's wildly popular Nexus 4 and will feature some impressive specs including a bigger screen and LTE connectivity. The device is also rumored to feature a 2300mAh battery.

Other reports have claimed that there will not be an 8GB version of the smartphone. It might launch only in 16GB and 32GB capacities. The 16GB model was the only one basically confirmed as it made an early appearance in the Google Play store. It was most likely published accidentally, but it's safe to say that this model will definitely arrive soon.
