NFL Rumors 2017: Several Teams Interested in Former Browns Cornerback K'Waun Williams

Former Cleveland Browns cornerback K'Waun Williams suffered a major setback when he was waived by the team following a dispute over his ankle injury. But now he has been cleared to play and is ready for a comeback.

According to National Football League (NFL) media insider Ian Rapoport, Williams is all set to visit the Detroit Lions and the New York Jets. ESPN's Michael Rothstein has also reported that if the Lions and Jets decide not to sign him, Williams also has meetings scheduled with the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and the Minnesota Vikings.

Reports note there is a chance that the Vikings may lose cornerbacks Captain Munnerlyn and Terence Newman in the offseason, so that explains why they may want to take a closer look at Williams. Sources note the New Orleans Saints may be interested in him as well.

Well, Williams is finally back after he missed the entire 2016 season with an ankle injury. Rapoport said he was medically cleared by Dr. Robert Anderson, an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist, so it looks like the ankle should no longer be a problem.

Williams doesn't have to wait for the new league year to begin before meeting with teams because he was waived last season and he failed to sign with another team. Now, he seems to be taking advantage of the head start on free agency by meeting with several teams.

Zach Links of ProFootballRumors.com has noted that Williams will probably sign a one-year deal, so he will look for a team where he can have a lot of playing time in order to increase his value for the following season.

"He probably won't get a fully guaranteed roster spot, but he could conceivably get a small partial guarantee on his salary if enough clubs show interest," Links said.

The Browns signed Williams as an undrafted free agent back in 2014, and he was a part of the team for two seasons. He has played in 26 games for the Browns and he started in 10 of them.
