NFL Viagra Usage: Players Using Drug for Endurance During Games?
What is the newest trick to keeping up your game in the NFL? Viagra, says one NFL player.
Drug use in professional players has been under frequent scrutiny in the past few years. The NFL in particular, has narrowed its focus on amphetamine usage after discovering that more and more players are testing positive for the drug Adderall. Starting last season, over 10 players who were suspended from the league admitted that they had been taking Adderall.
The most recent players to face controversy are the Seattle Seahawk's Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman, who tattled, although no tests have been confirmed.
But Chicago Bear player Brandon Marshall has stated that Adderall is not the only drug out there that might bring older players back to their youth. And according to him, some players will try anything to get back to their glory years.
"I don't know too much about Adderall," Marshall told the Chicago Tribune. "I know guys, it is such a competitive league, guys try anything just to get that edge."
Marshall added that such drugs were unnecessary for him, due to his size.
"I'm fortunate enough to be blessed with size and some smarts to give me my edge. But some guys, they'll do whatever they can to get an edge," he added.
But what does it take to get that edge? Sometime "crazy things" Marshall stated adding that players need to be more careful about their health.
"I've heard of some crazy stories. I've heard [of] guys using like Viagra, seriously. Because the blood is supposedly thin, some crazy stuff," the player said. "So, you know, it's kind of scary with some of these chemicals that are in some of these things so you have to be careful."
Marshall is right about the fact that Viagra can increase blood flow in the system, which helps increase circulation throughout the body and, in turn, endurance.
