'Ni No Kuni 2' News: Game Still Unfinished; 2017 Debut Impossible?
Fans of Level-5's role-playing game, "Ni No Kuni," are worried that the sequel "Revenant Kingdom" may not be finished in time for the projected late 2017 release.
Speculations of the delay sprouted when Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino revealed in a recent interview with Famitsu that the game is only halfway complete. Previously, the game developer announced that the much-anticipated Japanese RPG sequel would be available this year. Hino's recent statements hint, though, that they might need more time to finish the game.
Meanwhile, the CEO also talked about the new system that would be added and how they are constructing field maps using a diorama style. He also mentioned "a very big secret" that has something to do with another "major new system."
"A new system that is precisely for the kingdom building will appear. That said, you're not going to actually build kingdoms yourself, but it's a system that revolves around placing staff [to construct]. Players will get to decide on what kind of kingdoms they'll make, so they'll get to enjoy having their own kingdoms that are different from other players," Hino said in the interview.
It has been previously announced that "Revenant Kingdom" would be available for both the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. According to GameSpot, this is Level-5's attempt to make the sequel more accessible to overseas gamers. A previous game titled "Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch," was the first to be released via PlayStation 3 in the Western regions in 2013. It quickly gathered a lot of foreign followers.
"Ni no Kuni" follows the journey of the protagonist, Oliver, in his journey of healing and absolution. "Revenant Kingdom," on the other hand, will feature a new hero named Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum. With the help of a mystery visitor from a different world, he is set to reclaim the kingdom he lost.
"Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom" is scheduled to debut in 2017.
