Nicole Kidman in Grace Kelly Role: Actresses Bare Striking Resemblance to Each Other (PHOTO)
A new photo has just been released revealing the first glimpse of Nicole Kidman in her role as American actress Grace Kelly.
Grace Kelly was one of the most beloved actresses during film's Golden Age, which began in 1950. Her acting career ended in 1956 when she married the Prince of Monaco; it was the same year her last film, a comedy titled "High Society," was released.
Nicole was rumored to be in talks with film producers to take the role of Grace Kelly in "Grace of Monaco." The film, written by Arash Amel, made the 2011 Blacklist of best-unproduced scripts in Hollywood. The film style will resemble the likes of "My Week With Marilyn" and the "King's Speech," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will be directed by Olivier Dahan, the same director responsible for "La Vie en Rose," with a $30 million budget.
The new photo of Kidman, 45, shows the actress wearing the infamous Grace Kelly hairstyle. A collared dress adorns the actress' neck, with her profile baring a fair resemblance to that of Grace Kelly. The drama of the film will revolve around Kelly's ability to resolve conflict during the early years of her reign as princess.
"The story on this occasion centres on a 6-month period in 1962 when French leader Charles de Gaulle and Monaco's Prince Rainier III were at odds over the opulent principality's standing as a tax haven," according to THR. "Kelly, then 33 and in the first flush of her royal career, was said to have been instrumental behind the scenes in solving the political impasse."
While the biopic photos have been criticized by some- "where are the original screenplays" was a common complaint- the film is slated to be a success and will likely go up for an Oscar if it plays out as well as it has been written.
