'NieR: Automata' Coming to PC on March 10

PlatinumGames' upcoming action role-playing video game "NieR: Automata" is coming to both PS4 and PC this March.

News of the game's PC version surfaced after the release of a new trailer. "NieR: Automata" is the much-awaited RPG game by PlatinumGames and Square Enix which is scheduled to be unveiled on March 7 in North America. Based on the teaser, the PC version will be released several days after the PS4 launch on March 10, the same day as the European release.

The game takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth many years after the events of the original "NieR." The main protagonist is YoRHa No. 2 Model B, aka 2B, a female-model android. According to Game Revolution, "NieR: Automata" is one of RPGs to watch out for this year.

Meanwhile, the new trailer also showcases about 90 seconds of fast-paced gameplay footage. Players got a glimpse of more than a dozen weapons. In the teaser, 2B has access to four types of arsenal consisting of spears and combat bracers as well as small and large swords. These weapons may be switched mid-combo. New skills and weapons will be unlocked as the game progresses.

In a recent interview with game designer Tasahisa Taura, he said that "NieR: Automata" is just the perfect mix of action and RPG. He told the RPG Site that a lot of preparation has been done to ensure that the finished product would not disappoint.

"Rather than thinking of it from the perspective of okay, how do we balance the action stuff and the RPG stuff, we really just tried to make each aspect of that as interesting as possible in its own right, and that all comes together to form a package that is hopefully more than the sum of its parts. I think the final balance is something that can be enjoyed by people who just like action games or people who just like RPGs - and of course by those who like both too," Taura said in the interview with RPG Site.
