Nightly Salvations, Miracles at Christian Unity Revival in North Carolina
Salvations and miracles happened nightly for weeks during the Christian Unity Revival at a church in a small town in North Carolina, one of the many places in the U.S. where there have been "an outpouring of the Spirit of God."
Senior Pastor Chris Rumfelt of First Free Will Baptist Church in Hayesville, NC told CBN News the revival has brought churches together and drawn thousands of people, resulting in "a harvest of salvations."
"Eighty-five souls have come to know Jesus Christ and over 60 online," he said during the seventh week of the revival, held from April 3 to 7.
He said many of those who have been saved were Muslims.
The pastor said the revival also witnessed miracles, pointing out that "the power of God was so strong in the service."
"There was a lady in the first week of the meeting, came up, and she said, 'I have a tumor in my right knee, and I can barely walk, and I'm calling on the elders of the church to pray for me — that God would touch me,'" Rumfelt said.
"And we laid hands on her just like the Bible teaches from James, chapter 5, and through that prayer, that lady has not missed a night of the meeting. God touched her and healed her," he said.
The pastor also told CBN News about a man who attended the revival who could barely stand up because of back problems.
"God directed my hand on the very spot where this man was hurting during that prayer as he was praying for me, and I just happened to touch him," Rumfelt said. "And God brought revelation to me that this man had been healed. I felt that healing come out, and I said... 'You're healed in the Name of Jesus.'"
Rumfelt said they live-streamed the revival through the church's website and Facebook page, adding that some 10,000 to 30,000 people watched each of the events nightly.
Meanwhile, Pastor Chris Mathis of the Summit Church in Crestview, Florida believes that Americans are becoming "desperate" and "hungry" for God.
Writing for Charisma News, he said he is seeing places in America that are starting to experience real revival and transformation.
He mentioned the revival being led by Pastor Damon Thompson in Batesburg, South Carolina. Mathis said Thompson brought peace to the city when he began the revival there three years ago. Before that, Batesburg had one of the highest crime rates per capita in South Carolina. Following the revival, Batesburg was named one of the safest cities in the state, Mathis said.
The pastor also mentioned the successful revivals led by Pastor Rick Curry in Florida and Kaleb Hanshaw in West Virginia.
"God is doing something that is unique and the dead stale religion of yesterday is not the inheritance for our future. Our inheritance is revival, awakening and a nation on its knees bowing to a holy God!" Mathis said.
