Nikki Bella, Dolph Ziggler News: Superstar's Past Examined After John Cena Engagement
After Nikki Bella's engagement with John Cena at Wrestlemania, fans harked back to the time before they were together, specifically when the former was with another World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar, Dolph Ziggler.
Before she fell in love with the 16-time world champion, Bella dated Ziggler. It is being said that the romance started in 2008, not long after she debuted on Smackdown in November of that year.
This may seem like it all happened so fast, but it turns out that Bella and Ziggler met before that at the Florida Championship Wrestling, as per E! Online. Cena, on the other hand, was dating fellow superstar Mickie James at that time.

Bella and Ziggler's relationship reportedly ended by 2011, but in 2015, when Bella was already dating Cena, Ziggler confessed to her that he still has feelings for her.
This happened in an episode of Bella's reality show, "Total Divas." It is unclear how true this was though, but Ziggler tried to convince Bella then that he would like to marry her and start a family with her.
At that time, Cena was reeling from his divorce from his high school sweetheart and wife of three years, Elizabeth Huberdeau, and was not intent on getting married or having kids.
He made this clear in another episode of "TotalDivas" in which he said that with him and her wanting different things out of life, he felt like "there's this time bomb over my head."
Cena upheld the same perspective last year in an interview with Rolling Stone, where he said that "Just because everyone else is happy with children doesn't mean that's how I have to live."
"I've been upfront about this. I just have things I need to get done. It's not negotiable. We've been to therapy over it. I don't think it will ever be over with. I'm stubborn as f— and extremely selfish as well. I don't want kids, I don't want marriage. That's me just saying, 'Hey, this is my life and this is how I'm going to live,'" he said.
Clearly, Cena is over all this and is now ready to marry Bella. As for Ziggler, some fans are wondering why he has not congratulated the couple when everybody else has done so, at least on social media.
