Nintendo Direct News: New Games And New Platforms
Nintendo once again showed off some Japanese efficiency by packing so much news in so little time with this month's Nintendo Direct. Among the big announcements included a new RPG from Square Enix, a new Switch, new 2DS XL and a whole lot of games.
45 minutes was all it took for Nintendo to woo its fans with a plethora of new offerings. From "Skyrim" to "Splatoon," here's a rundown of the biggest announcements during the live stream.
First and foremost, Nintendo announced a "Pokemon"-themed New Nintendo 2DS XL. The red and white motif was made to resemble a Pokeball, at least as far as the handheld's shape can accommodate, and will be released on Nov. 3.
A new "Mario Odyssey" Switch bundle was revealed which includes the game, a pair of red Joy-Cons, and a "Mario Odyssey"-themed carrying case. Nintendo also revealed a wedding themed "Mario Odyssey" amiibo which will be available along with the bundle once the game is released on Oct. 27.
Aside from "Skyrim," two more Bethesda games will also be added to the Nintendo Switch with "Doom" and "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus" which is coming to the platform this holiday and in 2018 respectively.
Square Enix also has a new title coming to the platform in the form of the role-playing game "Project Octopath Traveler." Not much detail has been revealed about the game but judging from the trailer it looks absolutely gorgeous. The best part is that Switch owners can play a demo version of the game for free.
A number of updates regarding upcoming games were also announced during the live stream. Among them is the much awaited "Xenoblade Chronicles 2," "Kirby Star Allies," "NBA 2K18," and "Splatoon 2."
Several gameplay trailers were also released during the live stream including "Pokemon Ultra Sun," "Pokemon Ultra Moon", the hit Switch multiplayer online battle arena "Arena of Valor," and "Zelda: Breath of the Wild."
