Nintendo eShop Christmas Sale: Surprisingly Extensive Collection of Games Offered on Discount
Nintendo is offering a holiday sale of games for its set of handheld consoles. This time around, the deals have improved from the last time, with bigger discounts for Nintendo Switch, 3DS and Wii U titles.
Eurogamer notes that the company is not exactly at the level of Microsoft or Sony when it comes to launching discounts and free games, so this year's Christmas eShop sale comes as a pleasant surprise.
The selection, however, is still limited to third-party titles, so shoppers should not expect much in the way of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" or "Super Mario Odyssey" discounts. The rest of the titles, however, are intriguing enough to warrant a second look.
A growing list has already been put together by a ResetEra and CheapAssGamer users. As the other posters noted, this list, while still a work in progress, is not only bigger than last year but is actually already massive.
Nintendo UK at least had an ad running for the UK eShop, and there's a lot of great deals on offer include the turn-based "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle," "Rocket League," and "Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove."
Some other notable deals for the Nintendo Switch include "Overcooked! Special Edition" at just $16 after a 20 percent discount, and "Steamworld Dig 2" at just $15 after a 25 percent cut.
On the 3DS, "Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth" is now 20 percent off for RPG veterans looking to grind away a hundred hours in its immersive gameplay. Fast-paced side-scroller "Azure Striker GUNVOLT 2" is also for sale.
Wii U owners still have a few titles on a discount to complete the library for their console, including the original "Shovel Knight" and the fighting game standard "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" Wii U Edition.
Most promos end on Dec. 28, although some of them are still good until Jan. 2, 2018.
