Nintendo Mini NES News and Updates: Top 5 Games for Nintendo Classic Edition

NES Classic Edition Games You Need to Play

Last week, Nintendo came out with the news that they will be releasing a limited edition mini NES classic console that comes preloaded with 30 games.

The NES classic edition will be sold for $60 apiece, according to the official Nintendo website. The minified device is standalone and will only work with a TV and an HDMI cable so old and new players will once again experience the old-school Nintendo console. It comes with 30 cult-favorite games and here are top 5 games you should play when it hits the stores on November:

1. Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros.3

Mario is one of the most well-known Nintendo figure in the whole world. He is considered to be one of the defining characters of Nintendo's gaming history. What better way to pay homage to the plumber-saving-princess than by playing all three series in the new Nintendo NES classic console?

Old school players are bound to have a retro blast from the past and new players will get to know the 8-bit goodness that kept kids glued to the original NES console.

2. Final Fantasy

This is the original Square Enix title that started it all. Final Fantasy was published in 1987 and probably one of the most well-known RPG games during its time. The 8-bit graphics may be a far cry to the recent Final Fantasy titles now but it is rated as one of the hardest games in NES, according to GameFaqs. Think you have what it takes to beat it? That question can only be answered when you get to play it in the mini Nintendo NES classic console soon.

3. Ice Climber

Ice Climber may be better well-known for the Family Computer but it is worth playing on the mini NES classic console. Play as one or with a friend as Eskimo adventurers on a mission to literally climb the ice. One of the most distinct features of this game during its time is two players need to work together in the same pace to be able to surpass a level. Leaving the other player behind will mean their death and is arguably the cause of sibling or friend fallouts during heated gameplays.

4. PAC-MAN

Think PAC-MAN was purely just an arcade game? Think again! While it started that way, PAC-MAN made its way to the NES console in the 1980s. The iconic video game is considered to be the highest-grossing video game of all time and you have the chance to play it again old-school in the mini NES classic console.

5. Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr.

Donkey Kong was another arcade game that made its way to the NES in the 1980s. Before Mario had his own game with brother Luigi, he first made his mark in the Donkey Kong series. Instead of saving Princess Peach, Mario had to save a damsel named Pauline from Donkey Kong.
