Nintendo NES Classic Edition Stock News: Amazon Sells Over 180 Units at Premium Price

Since the Nintendo NES Classic Edition was launched in November last year, interested buyers have been having a hard time getting a hold of their own copy of the retro mini console. However, the much-coveted classic Nintendo console has been spotted recently in Amazon with over 180 units in stock.

The latest update from Amazon's page for the Nintendo NES Classic Edition lists more than 180 units currently available for sale. However, though the console is being sold for more than $160, exclusive of shipping fees, the available units are selling fast and could be easily sold out soon.

In the meantime, a very limited number of units of the NES Classic console are also being sold at online store eBay, priced at around $160. The current selling price on the website is still $100 more expensive than the original $60 launch price of the retro console.

The NES Classic is a miniaturized version of the 1985 NES game console and was introduced by Nintendo to the gaming market for older gamers who want to experience the nostalgia and the joy of playing 30 retro NES games. Some of the classic games playable on the mini console are "Donkey Kong," "The Legend of Zelda," "Super Mario Bros.," "Kirby's Adventure" and "Pac-Man."

Aside from the miniaturized console itself, the hard-to-find Nintendo NES Classic Edition comes with an old-school gray-colored NES Classic Controller, a standard HDMI cable and an AC adapter. The console is also compatible with the Classic Controller Pro. However, additional classic controllers will be sold separately.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima previously addressed the issue of the NES Classic Edition shortage, apologizing to its customers for the inconvenience caused by the supply chain problem.

"We apologize to our consumers and retail partners for the inconvenience caused by product shortages," Kimishima said. "Some parts require time to procure, but we are working to increase production."

Though purchasing a unit of the NES Classic Edition at its original retail price may be very difficult at the moment, interested buyers may try their luck at various local retailers such as Best Buy, Target and Walmart, among others.
