Nintendo NX Release Date: Possible Social AR/VR Gear To Be Out by 2016
Nintendo NX is due to be out on shelves soon and although the official release date is still unconfirmed, other speculations about the new mystery gaming device have already surfaced.
There are reports that Nintendo's next gaming console may be a "social AR/VR gear." Ahead of the yet-unrevealed release date of the Nintendo NX, game developers have already started expressing their interests in creating game titles for the upcoming device, according to the Venture Capital Post (VCPost).
Among the interested video game developers are Spike Chunsoft, Square Enix, and Kotaro Uchikoshi. The latter said it is already done with the most recent "Zero Escape" series intended for the Nintendo NX. Spike Chunsoft chief Mitsutoshi Sakurai also said they have started developing a new title, but did not reveal any other details.
Meanwhile, Nintendo still has not confirmed the speculations about the Nintendo NX being a "social AR/VR gear." The company has remained largely mum in the past few months about the next-gen console's details, the Ecumenical News (EN) reports.
AMD, the company manufacturing the processor and GPU for the upcoming Nintendo NX, previously said the project it is working on will be released in 2016. AMD is rumored to be working on an x86-based processor for the next-gen gaming device, the report details.
"I will say that one is x86 and the other is ARM, and at least one will be beyond gaming...," EN quotes AMD CFO Devinder Kumar's statement last December. "You will find out that it is AMD's APU that is being used in those products."
Nintendo NX is expected to have a different design compared with its predecessors. Its controllers and software will also offer something new for the customers, the report adds.
As of now, the Japanese tech giant has yet to announce the exact release date of the Nintendo NX. Customers and fans are advised to stay tuned for more updates from either AMD or Nintendo.
