Nintendo Switch Midnight Release Event: GameStop and More Retailers

Those who have failed to preorder the Nintendo Switch still have a way to secure one. Several retailers are holding midnight release events for the next-generation console on March 3, where it will be available on hand.

GameStop will receive limited shipments of the Nintendo Switch for walk-in customers. Buyers are advised to hit the stores even before the clock strikes 12 on launch day to make sure they get one. GameStop senior vice president Bob Puzon warns "they will go fast."

"We suggest to customers who want to take advantage of this to attend our midnight launch parties, as that will give them the best chance of securing one of these extra Switch consoles," GameStop said in a press release.

Those who preordered from the retailer will also be able to pick up their Nintendo Switch unit during GameStop's midnight release event.

The retailer will also offer on the event two Nintendo Switch bundles. The first one includes the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and a copy of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" for $429.99.

The second bundle includes all that plus a copy of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" official strategy guide all for $454.99. Customers will have to act fast to get one.

Best Buy will also do a Nintendo Switch midnight launch event, but it is only for those who preordered the console from them.

However, there is still one reason to show up and that is a free "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" poster, which will be given away to attendees while supplies last.

The Nintendo World Store in New York itself is also doing a midnight release event although there is no guarantee walk-in customers will be able to secure a Nintendo Switch unit.

Mic.com says that with the demand for the console, it will be difficult to get one from the flagship store, but the site believes that there could be no other store with more units than the biggest Nintendo store there is so it could be worth the shot.
