Nintendo Switch News: Data Miners Found an NES Emulator

The gaming community is aware Nintendo has worked hard in the past year. Considering they almost faced bankruptcy last year, it seems that the gaming giant is determined to show that they have learned their lessons well by giving their flagship console, the Switch, an edge. Recent reports have revealed that Nintendo might be planning to have an emulator on the Switch.

According to Polygon, some data miners found that the Nintendo Switch holds an emulator that has a copy of the critically acclaimed NES game title "Golf" on it. It is disguised by the file name "flog," and Github's yellows8 has revealed that it can be found on any Switch operating system. It is unclear how users can access the emulator itself, but the data miners had to run it under the radar to take screenshots of "Golf" on Switch.

Meanwhile, further reports indicate that "Golf" also indicates how to use the Nintendo Switch's Joy-Con controllers to play the game. So far, the hackers have confirmed that the console supports the buttons of the Joy-Con and the motion control feature. Nintendo has not responded yet for comment, but the gaming community is stirring with speculations.

Fans were thrilled to hear the news because if Nintendo does plan to include an NES emulator on the console, it could vastly expand the game titles available for it. Although the gaming company has recently added more to its growing library, an NES emulator could revive some of the more nostalgic game titles. Fans also claim that this would not be new considering Nintendo recently revived the nostalgia-heavy universe of "Super Mario" in "Super Mario Odyssey."

It is unclear how long the emulator will be available on the Nintendo Switch, but many are expecting to hear more details in the coming weeks.
