Nintendo Switch Warping Problem: Poor Quality Control During Production May Be to Blame

Just weeks following its official release, Nintendo's hybrid console, Switch, has been under some unfavorable scrutiny by owners who have been observing problems with their brand-new consoles.

The latest problem to join the list is a warping issue first noted by Reddit user _NSR and has since been supported by other Switch owners who have observed the same thing happening to their console while in docked mode.

Switch is the seventh major home video game console to be developed by Nintendo. It can serve as both a home console and a portable device depending on the owner's preference. Attaching the Joy-Con to its sides can easily turn the device into a handheld console, while a docking station gives the owner an option to connect the device to a television.

But as it turns out, the Switch may not be strong enough to handle itself in docked mode. Redditors have been claiming that their consoles are noticeably bending after spending some time in the docking station. The original commenter, _NSR, speculates that this could be due to the amount of work that the console is exerting while outputting the video onto a television. The effort makes the console hot enough to cause its internal components to expand, thus leading to its warped appearance.

Another commenter has since claimed that they have just called up Nintendo about the matter and the company has since set up to get their console repaired. The company also allegedly said that if the console turns out to be irreparable, they will transfer the data on the warped console to a new one and will be sending that new unit back to the owner in 6–8 days after receipt of the device.

Fortunately, this issue does not seem to be affecting the Switch's functionality, and there are actually some owners who are truly getting the bang for their bucks without encountering these problems. Engadget notes that these issues may be due to questionable quality control while the hybrid console was in production.

Nintendo has yet to release an official statement on this matter.
