Nintendo to Release Special 3DS XL Console That Looks Like SNES Classic Edition

Next month, Nintendo is set to release a 3DS XL designed to look like the hit Super NES Classic Edition.

The report first came from popular gaming enthusiast Wario64 who had spotted an Amazon product placeholder for the said handheld. This also indicated that contrary to earlier reports, the SNES Classic-looking 3DS XL portable device will be released in the United States.

Wario64's Twitter update suggested that pre-orders for the SNES Classic Edition-inspired 3DS XL unit with "Super Mario Kart" will be exclusively accepted via Amazon.

Based on the promotional images on the product page, most of the resemblance with the SNES Classic Edition is seen behind the console's screen. Meanwhile, the entire body and buttons are painted with the same shades seen on the classic gaming platform.

The release of the 3DS XL that looks like the SNES Classic Edition has been reported on as early as August this year. However, at the time, only Nintendo U.K. made the announcement, giving the impression that it would exclusively launch in the United Kingdom.

But with the addition of the product on Amazon, this indicates that the upcoming special edition 3DS XL handheld will be shipped to various regions in the world, including the United States.

The Nintendo 3DS XL Super NES Edition is currently available for pre-orders and will be shipped on Nov. 27. It costs $199.99 for the unit and a download code for the game "Super Mario Kart" on Super NES.

However, Amazon noted that the AC adapter will be sold separately. But if players already have an AC adapter for the Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS systems, there should be no problem.

This was not the first time that Nintendo released a special version of the 3DS XL console whose design was based on one of the company's classic consoles. Back in March, the video game company sold 3DS XL consoles that looked like the Super Famicom. However, it was exclusively released in Japan.
