'Nioh' DLC 'Dragon of the North' Coming Next Month [Details]

Team Ninja's hit action role-playing video game "Nioh" is getting its long-awaited first downloadable content (DLC) pack on May 2, publisher Koei Tecmo has announced.

In a translation by Gematsu of the announcement, "Dragon of the North" expansion will give players the chance to "venture deep into Japan's embattled Northern provinces."

Koei Tecmo is still keeping the particular details under wraps, but revealed that the DLC will have a lot to offer to players of "Nioh" such as new weapon types, scenarios, characters, guardian spirits, yokai and stages.

Specifics should be revealed in the weeks to come as the "Nioh" DLC's release date inches closer. On the surface, however, it can be gleaned from the details that this expansion will be quite huge.

This early, however, it can be said that the DLC will focus on Date Masamune, who is known as the one-eyed dragon, as per Dual Shockers. The setting is expected to be Sendai, the city he founded in 1600.

While it won't be long before "Dragon of the North" rolls out, it is to be noted that the release date actually comes a little later than expected.

When it was first announced, the "Nioh" DLC was actually slated for launch late April. It is unclear why Koei Tecmo is adding an extra week's worth of waiting.

The "Dragon of the North" expansion will also be released along with a free PvP update for the online versus mode of "Nioh." The feature has been requested by players for a while now and thankfully, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo are close to making it happen.

As for the first paid "Nioh" DLC, it is priced 1,300 yen, which is around $10 to $12. Gamers can also purchase the Season Pass, which includes "Dragon of the North" and two more DLCs, namely "Defiant Honor" and "Bloodshed's End," all for $24.99.

The former will allow fans to "fight in the bloody Winter Campaign of the Siege of Osaka" while the latter will task gamers to "bring the Siege of Osaka to an end during the Summer Campaign."

"Nioh" was released to the PlayStation 4 (PS4) back in February.
