No One Notices 'Mass Effect' Dev Flaunting New IP in a T-Shirt during GDC 2016

Alistair McNally, who heads design and art at BioWare studios in Austin and Montreal, has recently teased fans of "Mass Effect: Andromeda." He was at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016 wearing a t-shirt displaying their new secret IP and no one noticed.

"Also it was fun to walk around GDC2016 in a t-shirt with our new IP on it and no one batted an eyelid," McNally shared on Twitter on Saturday.

The tweet has sent many fans, like members of the BioWare forums, in a frenzied search for pictures of McNally at the event. No one seemed to be successful so far. Although McNally was at the conference, he didn't appear on any panels, according to the GDC schedule. As the search for the now famous yet unknown shirt has retrieved no results, fans and followers are left guessing whether the apparel contained the game's name, logo, or both.

BioWare officially announced "Mass Effect: Andromeda" in September 2012, saying the game was going to be built from the ground up. It will be running on "new gaming technology," which GameSpot takes to mean as referring to current-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The developer shared a trailer at E3 2014, saying the new IP will tell "contemporary stories."

The game is reportedly being developed by BioWare's Montreal studio. Most members of the team tasked to develop "Mass Effect: Andromeda" include those who have worked with 2003's "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic."

Recently discovered images hint at a new protagonist going by the name Pathfinder. Electronic Arts' Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen said during the Morgan Stanley's Technology, Media & Telecom Conference that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2017. More information might be revealed during the upcoming E3 in June.
