Nokia 2 Release Date News: Budget Smartphone Could Be Released in November
HMD Global's budget smartphone, the Nokia 2, will likely be released sometime in November.
The information was provided during a casual conversation between a customer and one of the administrators of Nokia Myanmar's official Facebook page.
A screenshot of the said conversation surfaced online via Android Hits where the customer was seen asking: "Have you heard rumors about Nokia 2 recently? Hope it will be great and get it here asap."
The official social media page responded with: "Hi. Nokia 2 is expected to be available in Myanmar in the month of November 2017. Exciting!"
Officially, people from Nokia or HMD Global have been keeping quiet about the retail release date of the said device. But if the Nokia Myanmar staff got it right, there is a great chance that November is the time frame for the global release of Nokia 2 since previous devices from the companies were typically launched first in bigger market regions such as Europe and China.
HMD Global has already introduced a cheaper smartphone option with the Nokia 3. So far, the device is regarded as the company's entry-level product amid an array of high-end options such as the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.
However, as the name suggests, the Nokia 2 is expected to be much cheaper than the Nokia 3., although this would also mean its hardware and technical specifications will be on the lower end.
GSM Arena has gathered the rumored specs that will go into the Nokia 2. If they tally, the device is then obviously not intended to compete with leaders in the smartphone competition.
It is expected to sport an LCD panel with a screen that measures just 4.7 inches. To avoid making the display look cramped, the device will reportedly have on-display navigation buttons.
With a meager price tag, people should not expect a powerful chip to run the Nokia 2. In fact, rumors have it that it will only sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210.
However, there are also some impressive specs on the Nokia 2, such as its having the latest version of Android Nougat right out of the box as well as a hefty 4,000-milliampere hour battery pack. It is also important to note that these bits of information have not yet been confirmed by HMD Global.
