Nokia 8 Rumors: Leaked Sketch Reveals Carl Zeiss Dual-Camera Setup; Flagship Device to Arrive in June?
HMD Global may have recently unleashed four Nokia smartphones at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, including an updated version of the famous Nokia 3310, but it seems that the best is yet to come. The Finnish company is reportedly working on the flagship model of the brand, which is rumored to be called the Nokia 8.
According to NokiaPowerUser, a leaked design sketch of the Nokia 8 originating from China reveals that the upcoming device will have a Carl Zeiss dual-lens camera setup at the rear. The flagship smartphone is said to feature a different design language from the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 in that it has a "pillow-shaped" back. Meanwhile, its front appears to be similar to the Nokia 6, specifically with the fingerprint sensor and the touch button position.
While this particular leak has yet to be confirmed, its source, a Chinese leakster named Nokibar, is known for releasing genuine leaks in the past.
Previous reports have also revealed the potential specifications of the Nokia 8 including a 5.7-inch display with a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution, 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM), 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage, support for up to 256 GB of expanded memory via a microSD card, a 3,200 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port. The rear camera is said to be 24 megapixels (MP), while the front will have a 12-MP lens. The Nokia 8 is also expected to have a Dual-SIM configuration.
On the other hand, there's still some debate on the particular system-on-chip (SoC) that will be used for the upcoming flagship device. Initial reports suggested that the Nokia 8 would be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor but there are now rumblings that the smartphone might use the mid-range Snapdragon 660 chip.
While the Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 3310 have already been confirmed to arrive in the United States sometime in the second quarter of 2017, HMD Global has yet to officially announce the Nokia 8. Nevertheless, rumors suggest it will arrive in June.
