Nokia 8 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Next Nokia-Branded Smartphone Is Powered by Snapdragon 835?
After revealing a series of Nokia-branded smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2017 last week, HMD Global is already rumored to be making the Nokia 8, and it is speculated to run with Qualcomm's latest chip - the Snapdragon 835.
News coming from the Chinese website Anzhuo.cn sparked rumors about two flagship releases, which includes the Nokia 8. According to the report, both devices will run with the Snapdragon 835 that has eight cores of 2.4-gigahertz power.
The Chinese and European versions of Nokia 6, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the 2017 model of Nokia 3310 are the debut devices for HMD Global as manufacturers of the brand. However, reports note that for HMD Global to get that manufacturer badge, they need to have a flagship-level release as well. And following the recent rumors, it looks like the Nokia 8 will do just that.
A report from WCCFTech mentioned that the other flagship device rumored to arrive this year is the Nokia P1. However, the same report noted that their hunch tells them the Nokia 8 and Nokia P1 could be referring to just a single product. But if they are going to be two separate products, both are expected to run with Snapdragon 835, while one of them will be released as a premium option and will sport a dual-lens rear-facing camera.
Meanwhile, there have also been reports suggesting that the main camera for HMD Global's flagship will not go smaller than a 23-megapixel component. Added to that, it is also expected to sport a full-metal bodywork and either a 4 GB or 6 GB random access memory.
Reports recall that the Nokia 8 was originally expected to arrive at the MWC event last week. However, it did not happen. But with the continuing drive of HMD Global to bring the Nokia brand to the map, it might be an unwise move not to follow up with a flagship release this year as well.
On the other hand, if HMD Global's ability to put up competitive smartphones is no longer a question, the same WCCFTech report presents the concern of whether the Finnish company can meet global demands once their flagship product is out in the market.
