Nokia 9 Specs, Release Date: HMD Global's Next Flagship Boasts an Interesting Selfie Snapper
If the latest details revealed about the Nokia 9 are anything to go by, the device could very well be HMD Global's answer to the Apple iPhone X.
During its recent visit to Federal Communications Commission (FCC), it is revealed that the Nokia-branded flagship will have the makings that will allow it to compete with the best smartphones around.
For starters, the Nokia 9 will have a 5.5-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, which comes as a major improvement from its predecessor, the Nokia 8. This type of display should provide deeper blacks and richer colors altogether found in the iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S8.
It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 128 GB of native storage with past leaks suggesting 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) as accompaniment.
The imaging side of things is where it gets more interesting because the Nokia 9 will come with a dual camera setup both on the back and on the front, but with different tech.
The Nokia 9 will boast a 12 MP sensor and a 13 MP shooter on its rear. On the front is a 5 MP snapper, which, as GSM Arena discovers, is a dual camera as well.
The selfie snapper also has autofocus with one of the modules at f/2.0 aperture and with video support of 1,080p resolution. The second lens is only listed to have f/2.4 aperture so there is no way of knowing what functions it will have — whether it will be a black-and-white type sensor or a wide-angle one among the various possibilities.
Finally, The Nokia 9 will have Google's latest mobile operating system Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. No details on the battery capacity yet, but the word is that it will be at least 3,250 mAh.
The Nokia 9 is expected to be made official early next year.
