Oakland Raiders Interested in Acquiring Retired Running Back Marshawn Lynch?

Adrian Peterson just couldn't catch a break. Just when people thought that there was a huge chance he could land with the Oakland Raiders, another running back has come into the picture. And this one didn't even play in the National Football League (NFL) last season.

Marshawn Lynch may be retired, but he can't stay away from the limelight for long. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson, the Raiders are interested in acquiring Lynch and they are reportedly trying to persuade him to come out of retirement.

"It's an idea he has considered, according to sources. Playing for his hometown team would be an incentive and could influence a decision. Over the years, sources told ESPN's Adam Caplan, Lynch told people his dream was to play for the Raiders. He has a 'Beast Mode' apparel store in Oakland," Schefter and Anderson said in their report.

Since Lynch's playing rights are owned by the Seattle Seahawks, the Raiders will have to acquire him through a trade. If the running back does return, the Seahawks will also have the option to keep or release him.

According to NFL.com's Mike Garafolo, the Seahawks are not interested in releasing Lynch when the subject came up last year, but they are reportedly open to trading him for "the right price." Garafolo also revealed that the retired running back visited the Seahawks last Thursday, but he didn't request his release.

However, Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz said Lynch met with Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider and asked them to cut him. Schultz also reported that Lynch has been wearing Raiders gear privately.

Meanwhile, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio said there's a "very good chance" he would play next season. NFL.com has also reported that while they were told by a source that Lynch was considering a comeback, he hasn't made a decision yet. So, Raiders fan shouldn't get too excited yet.
