Obama News 2017: Barack and Michelle Share Sweet Anniversary Messages, Offer Prayers for Victims of Las Vegas Mass Shooting

Former U.S. President Barack Obama has left the limelight since handing over the presidency to Donald Trump, but his supporters remain interested to hear some updates about his personal life. On Oct. 3, he and his wife Michelle Obama celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, and the sweet messages they sent each other were quick to draw the hearts of many.

A day before their actual anniversary, Michelle took to social media to greet her husband by sharing a lovely photo of them from their wedding day. "Happy 25th anniversary @barackobama. A quarter of a century later, you're still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know. I love you," she captioned the photo.

Shortly after Michelle posted her sweet message, the former president also took to social media to give a special tribute to his wife. On his Facebook page, Barack shared a video praising his "extraordinary wife" and gushed over Michelle, saying he's still in awe of her "saintly" and "patient" ways even after 25 years.

"I had to crash this party because today we have been married for 25 years. Now, the idea that you would put up with me for a quarter of a century is a remarkable testament to what a saintly, wonderful, patient person you are," he said in the video.

Barack and Michelle first met in 1989 and got married at the Trinity United Church in Chicago three years later. For years, they have been known as one of America's favorite couples, with some even labeling them as "the power couple."

Meanwhile, just around the time of their anniversary celebration, Barack tweeted to convey his sympathy for the victims of the most recent deadly shooting during a country music festival in Las Vegas.

Over on Twitter, Barack wrote, "Michelle & I are praying for the victims in Las Vegas. Our thoughts are with their families & everyone enduring another senseless tragedy."
