'Ocean's Eight' Release Date, Cast News: New Photo Previews Girl Power, Star-Studded Spin-Off
Movie studios Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow recently made a stunning announcement about the upcoming "Ocean's Eight" movie through a new promotional photo that screams nothing but "star-studded" and "girl power."
Rihanna was the first to share "Ocean's Eight" fierce snap to social media.
The powerful photo features the eight women who will be the main characters of the movie. The picture was shot in a subway train with all eight women sporting fashionable clothes. The "Ocean's" trilogy spin-off will star award-winning actresses Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham-Carter, Anne Hathaway and Sarah Paulson as well as music icons Rihanna and Awkwafina. The stars mentioned are going to play their respective roles of Debbie Ocean, Lou, Amita, Rose, Daphne Kluger, Tammy, Nine Ball and Constance.
The first promotional photo for "Ocean's Eight" is so powerful that even talk show host Ellen DeGeneres joked of wanting to become part of it and proposed in making it "Ocean's 9."
According to an available movie synopsis, the movie's turning point will be when Debbie decides to stage "the heist of the century" during the Met Gala event where the biggest stars in the entertainment business converge. It looks like the movie plot's highlights include Debbie's adventure in assembling her perfect all-women crew.
The movie will be directed by Gary Ross, who is also famously known for helming "The Hunger Games." Ross crafted "Ocean's Eight" screenplay with Olivia Milch, Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik. Bullock co-produces the film with Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Diana Alvarez and Bruce Berman.
According to reports, the eight powerful women in the movie have been regularly seen in the Big Apple since October last year. Rihanna and Bullock were even spotted last December enjoying the city's signature hot dogs in one of the staple food chains in New York, the Papaya King.
PEOPLE reported that "Ocean's Eight" will be graced with interesting cameos by reality superstar Kim Kardashian and her supermodel sister Kendall Jenner.
Aside from the famous sisters, the movie is proving to be a culmination of various fields as fashion industry moguls like Anne Wintour of Vogue, Derek Blasberg of Vanity Fair, and designers Alexander Wang and Zac Posen are all expected to have cameos in the film as well, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The star-packed "Ocean's 8" movie will premiere in U.S theaters on June 8, 2018.
