Oculus Rift Price Drop News: Oculus Rift, Touch Controller Bundle Now $200 Cheaper

The Oculus Rift has been available in the market since early last year and it has never been so appealing. This week, Oculus announced that the price of its Rift headset package will be cut by $200, making the device significantly cheaper than its major competitors in the market.

With its new price, the Oculus Rift is now more affordable than the HTC Vive and only $100 more expensive than the PlayStation VR, which is often dubbed as "the budget headset." The announcement came with the unveiling of the new games that Oculus will release this year.

When the Oculus Rift was launched last year, the headset alone cost $500 while its important but optional component, Touch, cost $199. When the device started supporting cheaper PCs like the $499 Cyberpower machine, the Oculus Rift started to become the virtual reality system that every tech enthusiast will not have second thoughts spending on.

However, the recent price drop makes the Oculus Rift bundle even cheaper. The significant price drop is expected to go a long way towards making the product one of the best choices in the virtual reality (VR) market.

Now, tech enthusiasts can purchase the Oculus Rift with Touch controllers for only $598, making the Touch controllers closer to becoming a standard component of the Rift. While buyers can still purchase the two separately, considering how cheap the bundle is now, the Touch becomes an indispensable staple when buying the VR system.

The price of the Touch controllers was also cut by $100 and can now be picked up separately for only $99. The overall price drop of the Oculus Rift and Touch gives the bundle a considerable advantage over the HTC Vive, especially because aside from its cheap price, it can also play almost all Vive games.
