Odell Beckham Jr. Injury News Update: Playmaker Out for the Season

Odell Beckham Jr. will have to undergo surgery after sustaining an ankle injury during the game between his team the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers.

The surgery will be carried out sometime this week although there is no exact schedule yet. Unfortunately for the Giants, the injury marks the end of the season for the playmaker, as per head coach Ben McAdoo.

Beckham was placed on injured reserve along with Dwayne Harris, who also sustained an ankle injury on the same game with a surgery lined up today. He is out indefinitely for the season due to his broken foot.

According to Bleacher Report, Beckham concluded the game with five catches, 97 receiving yards (a season high for the 24-year-old) and one touchdown against the Chargers.

Despite starting the year with an ankle issue, the wide receiver was not held back by the injury and did not fail to put out a good performance, making 25 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns in four games.

Apart from Beckham and Harris, two more of the Giants playmakers have been injured as well. Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard were also hit with ankle injury, but the hope is that they manage to pull through quickly to salvage the rest of the season.

At the moment, Roger Lewis stands as the only active receiver on the roster, but changes are expected to be made in order to get him some assistance.

The Giants are currently at 0-5 and are likely far away from making it to the playoffs, but with four of its biggest playmakers out, the pressure is on McAdoo to find ways to recover from what is being deemed as a "disappointing" season — which is a feat that is very tricky to pull off with the recent turn of events.
