'Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir' Special 'Storybook Edition' Confirmed For Spring 2016
The classic role-playing game that was made famous on the PlayStation 2, "Odin Sphere" will be getting a high-definition remake titled "Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir" which is set to be released in Japan in January 2016. North American fans of the RPG game have more reason to be excited about the game's western release as game publisher Atlus recently announced that they will be releasing a "Storybook Edition" that will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 consoles. The collector's edition will be available in North America and will be released during spring 2016, according to Gematsu.
The special edition set will be selling for $79.99 and will include a hardcover Art Book that will contain 64 pages of original drawings from the game's artist George Kamitani as well as artists from game developer Vanillaware, an Art Print which is said to contain a not-yet-revealed design, and a t-shirt with a Potion Recipe for turning Mandragora plants into survival potions that are commonly used in the game. A copy of the PS4 game will be encased in a special metal slipcase with game art in front and back. The whole package will be boxed in a sturdy, outer box for easy shipping.
Meanwhile, the standard PS4 edition of the game will sell for $59.99, while the PS3 edition will be available for $49.99. The PS Vita edition will sell for $39.99. Standard editions will also come with a softcover version of the art book, but will be available at selected retailers.
According to publisher Atlus, the upcoming HD remake is "a total overhaul of the original PS2 game." Graphics were redrawn by hand and gameplay mechanics were also improved and optimized for the different console versions. The game's plot and storyline, however, remains the same. There are still five main characters, each representing a warring nation in the world of Erion. Each of them uses a weapon called a Psypher, which the character uses in battle. Each character has its own story but the stories of the five characters are interconnected. If one character appears to be a protagonist in his/her story, he/she may still appear as an antagonist in another story. According to Atlus, the game "gives players the sensation of playing in a fairytale of Wagnerian proportions as the main characters all vie to regain stability in their world of warring kingdoms."
