On the other hand, the Mavericks were runners-up in the Southwest with a 42-40 record but only managed to secure sixth place in the West due to the conference being a top heavy side in the league.
However, the Thunder are still trying to get everything right despite being third in the West as they have suffered the most fourth quarter meltdowns in the league.
Most of the time having the lead entering the final quarter, the Thunder have lost many games by allowing their opponents to bounce back and take the win.
However, if the Thunder can correct their mistakes, then they can go a long way with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook leading the way.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks are still carried by their veteran players like Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams.
However, the Mavericks have also a few pieces that have helped them such as Wesley Matthews and Zaza Pachulia who can give great contribution in the minutes they play.
Looking at their head to head battle, the Thunder swept the Mavericks in the four games they met in the regular season, giving Oklahoma City the undeniable advantage.
Add to the fact that they are playing at home in the first two games, then Oklahoma City should be comfortable enough to try and get the wins they need.
But counting the Mavericks out is not a good idea as Nowitzki still shows that he is a great shooter and his teammates are more than eager to give their part as well.
