Old Navy T-Shirt Mistake Awards Houston Texans the 1961 AFC Title
Old Navy has made an embarrassing t-shirt mistake by giving the Houston Texans the 1961 AFC title, according to ESPN on Monday.
Edie Kissko, a spokesperson for Gap Inc. has said, "The NFL clothing sold in our Old Navy stores is created by a third party sports licensing company. It is our intention to always provide the best merchandise to our customers and NFL fans. We apologize for this error and are removing the T-shirts."
As a matter of fact the Houston Oilers (not the Texans) did win a title in 1961, however, it was not even the AFC title - the AFC did not even exist at that point having only been established nine years later in 1970.

Even more embarrassingly the Houston Texans also did not even exist at that time - not by a long chalk. The Houston Texans were only founded in 2002, when they came into existence as part of an NFL expansion program.
Originally the name "Houston Oilers" was unavailable to the expansion team, as that name was still owned by the Tennessee Titans, whose owner Bud Adams had retired the name from use in 1999.
There were in fact five names originally touted for use by the new team; Bobcats, Stallions, Texans, Toros, and Apollos.
The list of names was determined after several months of research conducted jointly by Houston NFL 2002 and NFL Properties. An online survey regarding the name generated more than 65,000 responses in just seven days.
