Olivia Sprauer, Fla. Teacher, Loses Job for Moonlighting as Swimsuit Model (VIDEO)

'I'm Surprised I Hadn't Been Asked to Resign Sooner,' Says Mother of 2 Children

Olivia Sprauer, a ninth grade English teacher in Boca Raton, Fla., was asked to resign and escorted from the high school campus after administrators discovered she had been moonlighting as a model. After confirming she was the subject of some racy photos, Martin County High School let her go.

Olivia Sprauer, 26, began teaching in 2011 at the high school, but after a divorce and with two young children to care for, she decided to resort to modeling swimwear to earn extra money. Sprauer began glamour modeling under the name Victoria Valentine James in February of this year, and it didn't take long for administration to find out.

"Was that you?" Principal Alfred Fabrizio asked her in April, referring to pictures of her with little clothes on.

"Yes," Sprauer recalled to The Sun Sentinel.

By the end of the month, she had signed a resignation letter, which was dated April 29. Sprauer had planned to finish her graduate degree in English literature at Florida Atlantic University, but wanted to transition to modeling at the end of the year. She says the risks were well worth it, however.

"It was a risk I'm willing to take. I'm surprised I hadn't been asked to resign sooner," she said, stating that other educators have been let go in the past for similar offenses. Sprauer only wishes that she could have stayed longer with her students, whom she says like her "not [just] because I'm good looking."

"I felt it would have been nice for my students to finish out the year with me," she told the Huffington Post. "They trusted me and they made me happy so that aspect of it was sad."

Though administrators would not directly comment on the matter, teachers are required to adhere to "a high moral standard in a community," according to Florida's code of ethics.

Sprauer's Model Mayhem page said that she is "more than comfortable shooting tasteful nudes for the right projects" although she told reporters that she "[doesn't] make pornography."

The mother of two still plans to continue with her plans for education and modeling. She also wants to attend her former students' graduation.
