'Once Upon a Time' season 5 news, cast, spoilers: Henry will have a first crush

The return of "Once Upon a Time" will offer something new and interesting than in any of the previous seasons, mainly with Emma being the villain this time and Regina filling in Emma's heroic shoes. However, aside from a reversal of roles, viewers will also witness a love story not with any of the adult lead characters but with Henry.

According to Movie Fone, Henry will be experiencing his first love this season. Although many might think that his character is too young to experience such thing, Jared S. Gilmore, the actor who plays Henry, is already 15, just the most likely time that he experiences falling in love.

Executive producer Edward Kitsis recently told Entertainment Weekly about this as he is quoted saying, "We're going to meet Henry's very first crush. It's a character that we're going to meet and we want it to be a surprise." Adam Horowitz also chips in, "It's fun to give Henry something new to play and deal with, and to really explore Henry as a boy who's growing up and all the joy and pain of adolescence."

They also mentioned that this particular event in Henry's life will most likely happen in Camelot, since Kitsis has mentioned before that Camelot is a place of love. Some speculate that it could be Merida (Amy Manson), whose appearance is already confirmed for this season, while others think it could be Guinevere (Joana Metrass). The producers did not say anything about dating, so it's best guessed that he will just be admiring beauty and skills. But then again, the show might be hiding new characters and twists up its sleeve.

Kitsis also shared that this season will show how love can be used as a weapon, which can become a problem for Henry's crush now that his mom is currently the dark one. He previously said, "We are going to be exploring love and what happens when you use it as a weapon and what are the things that it makes you do. In the past, we've said love is the most powerful magic of all. It makes you do many things you normally wouldn't think you would."

Fans await what will happen in the fifth season of Once Upon a Time as it premieres on Sept. 27, Sunday, 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
