'Once Upon a Time' season 5 premiere: How Emma and Captain Hook will cope this season
The premiere of "Once Upon a Time" season 5 is coming, and many already have a clear idea of some of the happenings for a lot of individuals in the show, especially Emma. Fans can't help but wonder how the new and much darker version of Emma will affect the relationship she has with Captain Hook. Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis talked to Entertainment Weekly to share about what can be expected from the pairing in the show.
Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma, had already previously dropped hints that Hook's evil beginnings might make it easier for the Evil Emma to suck him back into darkness. Horowitz further confirmed this by sharing, "Hook is a person who has flirted with darkness for a very long time, so seeing what Emma is going to go through is going to be a tricky situation."
Furthermore, despite Emma being The Dark One, it is absolutely possible that he will still feel love for Hook just like how when Rumplestilskin being The Dark One had not stopped him from falling in love with Belle. Kitsis shared, "The Dark One is capable of love. The problem with The Dark One is that the darkness leads to selfishness, which leads to bad decisions, which leads to everyone leaving you."
When asked about what is next for Captain Hook and Emma after she had finally summed up the courage to tell him "I love you" in the season finale, Kitsis further added, "I think we're going to explore that. This year she has to deal with the fact that every time she ever told someone she loved them or kissed them, they died. Hook is there because we know he's a good survivor. So I think that it is very hard to let your guard down and make yourself more vulnerable, and that we're going to explore with Hook and her this season."
Fans can only wait to see what will happen to Emma and Captain Hook as season 5 of "Once Upon a Time" premieres on Sept. 27, Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
