'Once Upon a Time' season 5 news, cast spoilers: LGBT plot going to happen this season
"Once Upon a Time" is a show that is never afraid to break boundaries. The creativity of the show is seen through the well-written intertwined lives of our beloved fairytales.
Throughout the four seasons, fans of the show have seen the different characters form relationships. It's no surprise that this season, the show might be exploring a whole new kind of relationship.
According to Entertainment Weekly, an interview with executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis spilled that there will be an LGBT relationship within the coming season. It will apparently involve the returning Disney princess Mulan, played by Jamie Chung. It was previously revealed in season 3 that Mulan is lesbian; however, it was not explored further after Mulan joined Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Many feel, though, that it will more likely still be Aurora (Sarah Bolger) to whom her attention will be focused on.
Kitsis shared, "We know that [LGBT] community have been big supporters of the show, and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that. It is something that we're going to do this year." Horowitz also added, "We want the show to reflect the world as it is now. Whether that's going to be with any particular character, we're not going to say ... It's something we think is due and important to do on the show."
It's not yet confirmed when viewers will actually see this story line; however, it is already certain that Mulan will be appearing again in the first half of season 5. This would certainly be a challenging take on the well-known characters, and fans are nonetheless excited about how it will all unfold.
Season 5 of Once Upon a Time will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
