'Once Upon a Time' season 5 spoilers: Emma and Hook's love to be tested; upcoming LGBT relationship

"Once Upon a Time" season 5A is set to conquer the TV screens, and the new installation will present many changes in the Storybrooke characters, especially for Emma and Hook.

In the finale of "Once Upon a Time" season 4, Emma was swallowed by dark forces, casting a shadow of doubt on the future of her romantic relationship with Hook. The upcoming season of the ABC fantasy series will focus on Emma's evolution into the Dark One, according to Design N Trend (DNT).

In an interview with Yahoo! News, executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz revealed a few details about what will happen in the fifth season of "Once Upon a Time." The co-creators began by saying they did not mean to incite anger among fans by separating Jennifer Morrison's character (Emma) from Colin O'Donoghue's Hook. They said the relationship of the characters will undergo a few changes, the report details.

"No one loves these characters more than us. We do not sit down and say, 'Let's piss off Captain Swan people today,'" DNT quotes the executive producers' statement to Yahoo!. "There are no agendas. The relationships that form or have obstacles are part of their journeys," Kitsis told the publication.

Emma and Hook had their chance to express their feelings for each other in season 4, but their happiness was short-lived because she got swallowed by the Darkness. In season 5, a lot of happenings will shake up and test her relationship with Hook and Regina (Lana Parilla) and her family, the report relays.

Kitsis revealed that Hook and Emma will be seen back together to deal with their problems when "Once Upon a Time" season 5 premieres. Hook will have to fight to defend her, Regina, and her family. At the beginning of the fifth season, Hook, Regina, Snow, Henry, and Charming will do their best to save Emma and pull her back toward the good side. But the whole process will prove to be very difficult for the lovebirds, especially since they both have dark pasts.

The first half of the season will include the unfolding of Emma and Hook's relationship, and this will take up 11 episodes, said Horowitz. The two will be able to use their past experience of battling the darkness as they fight their problems.

Another interesting revelation is "Once Upon a Time's" venture into an LGBT relationship, something which the producers promised to do this year. However, Horowitz chose to remain mum on who are the characters involved and whether it will include Mulan and Aurora, Latino Post reports.

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
