'Once Upon a Time' Season 7 Spoilers: Details on the Unlikely Partnership of Hook and Rumple Revealed

The new season of "Once Upon a Time" has finally arrived, and fans were treated to a reset, where their favorite characters ended up in a different place and had new identities.

Some of the story's key players, Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), Regina (Lana Parilla), Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), and Rumple (Robert Carlyle), are now in Hyperion Heights and are complete strangers to each other.

Well, Hook, now called Officer Rogers, and Rumple, now called Detective Weaver, are actually working together in the police department of Hyperion Heights. But how did this happen?

During the recent New York Comic-Con, series co-creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis shared during the panel that the two characters' partnership is not entirely random.

"To Rogers, Weaver is an esteemed detective to look up to and aspire to," Horowitz told TVLine, adding that Rogers is excited about working with Weaver.

"As the season goes on, it seems to be that Weaver picked Rogers for a reason," Kitsis added.

In the premiere, Weaver was seen torturing someone. Apparently, there will be more to this, which might be related to his original character. They also teased that more secrets will be revealed as the season continues.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight recently caught up with O'Donoghue and he was happy to talk about his new role as a police officer.

"He's a slightly different version of Hook," the actor told the news outlet. "I've never had a cursed identity on the show, so it was interesting to play Hook who doesn't realize that he's Captain Hook and doesn't have all of that and what that entails. And, obviously, it's different now with the cast changes, so it's been a sort of fascinating experience so far," he added.

He also said that he would love it if Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) will show up in Hyperion Heights some time in the future. Given that O'Donoghue's original character was Captain Hook, it would be an ideal story book reunion.

"Once Upon a Time" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
