Niall Horan Leaving One Direction? Twitter Post Exposed as Hoax as Fans Panic
Fans of One Direction panicked when rumors about Niall Horan leaving the band went viral on social media.
The rumors reportedly started on Yahoo UK, Celebrity UK and Sugarscape Twitter accounts on Dec. 28. The Yahoo UK account tweeted: "Niall has left One Direction!!" The other sites had similar tweets but it turned out to be a false report.
Yahoo UK announced the next morning that their account was hacked. Yahoo UK posted: "Morning everyone. Just so you know, Niall Horan isn't in fact leaving 1D, our account was hacked last night. We repeat, Niall isn't leaving."
Sugarscape also confirmed that their Twitter account was hacked. They wrote: "So while we were fast asleep, it turns out some d---head hacked our account. VERY sorry for any heart attacks caused."
Naturally, Directioners went crazy over the hacked tweets and #ReasonsNiallLeftOneDirection became a trending topic on Twitter. Some social media users made fun of the rumors and posted funny reasons as to why Horan left the group under the said hashtag.
Harry follow me 2K15 posted an edited picture of Horan with braided hair. The fan wrote: " Because he's a 12 year old girl."
Username @arktichealy shared a collaged picture of Horan, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Ellen Degeneres wth the same hair color and captioned: "he wanted to be closer with his sisters."
One fan tweeted: "He got a late acceptance letter to Hogwarts."
On a more serious note, some fans speculated that Horan is out to pursue a solo career and produce songs with more meaning.
The One Direction boys reportedly had a good laugh about the rumors. A source told Hollywood Life that the other band member pranked Horan after hearing about the hacked tweets.
"They were texting him to come back to the band and making joke decisions that didn't involve him. They all had a pretty fun laugh about it. They aren't breaking up and they wanted to treat the news as it was, a complete joke," the source said
One Direction band members are often barraged with rumors about leaving the group. The band remains intact as they plan on their upcoming fifth album.
