'One Piece' Chapter 858, 859: Plot Against Big Mom Comes Together; Can Straw Hat-Firetank Pirates Alliance Last?
The most unlikely alliance has just been formed between two organizations that would really rather beat each other black and blue. But the in-house fighting will just have to wait for the Straw Hats and the Firetank Pirates as they have a more pressing issue to take care of first in the next chapter of "One Piece."
Chapter 858 finally saw Monkey D. Luffy and his crew meet Capone Bege and his Firetank Pirates at the northwest part of Whole Cake Island. And even though Luffy did not directly say yes to the alliance — having been distracted by the sight of demented scientist and former foe, Caesar Clown — it seemed like their mutual hatred of Big Mom would be enough to temporarily bind the two groups together.
And with only 3 hours and 20 minutes left before the tea party prior to Sanji's wedding, Bege's plot to take out Big Mom's head will finally be laid out in chapter 859. Will it really be as perfect as he claims it to be? And will it be sly and efficient enough to one-up an unpredictable and mean-tempered Yonko pirate like Big Mom?

If the villainous scientist Caesar is in with the plan, then they might actually have a chance at victory. One of the crucial revelations that the previous chapter 858 gave was that Big Mom may not have always been as colossal as she is now. Her size could've been the result of the experiments she invested on to enlarge regular people after failing to forge an alliance with the real giants following her daughter Lola's refusal to marry their prince.
Inquisitr speculated that Big Mom's artificially enhanced size could lend itself to some game-changing weaknesses that could tip the scales of victory towards the newly formed Straw Hat-Firetank alliance. And Caesar, being himself privy to the workings of science and destruction, may just play a significant role in their success.

In other news, The One Piece Podcast reported that the anime adaptation of this Eiichiro Oda masterpiece is about to kick-off the highly anticipated "Whole Cake Island Arc" with an episode titled "Sanji Returns Home — To Big Mom's Territory!"
This episode will feature the first appearance of Black Leg Sanji after leaving Zou Island. This is also where he will be seeing a photo of his intended bride for the first time. And as is typical of the Straw Hats' resident Casanova, Sanji easily falls in love with the beautiful and innocent-looking Charlotte Pudding at first sight.
The first episode of the "Whole Cake Island Arc" airs on Sunday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. JST on Fuji TV.
