Luffy Deals With Marine Soldiers as Original Filler Arc Begins in 'One Piece' Episode 780
The hit anime "One Piece" skipped the week in favor of the Nagoya Women Marathon so fans will be treated to a new episode of the series next week instead.
The anime will be back with episode 780, "A Hungry Front — Luffy and the Marine Rookies" and will launch an original filler arc called Marine Rookie, which will feature new Marine soldiers.
"One Piece" episode 780 will see Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates go on with their efforts to save Sanji when they hit a snag after Luffy ends up gulping down all their food supplies.
Because of this, the group breaks into a Marine base to get the supplies they need to last the trip. Unsurprisingly, this does not go as planned.
"One Piece" episode 780 will see Luffy get in trouble with three rookie Marines who used to be members of Aokiji's unit.
The artwork for the story arc featured in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine shows Luffy in a Marine jacket, which suggests that he might end up making acquaintances with the trio.
However, he was seen battling the Marines in question so it will be interesting how it will all go down between the Straw Hat Pirates and the rookie Marines soldiers in "One Piece" episode 780 and beyond.
As per Anime News Network, this original "One Piece" anime filler arc will introduce a batch of colorful new characters who also appear in the story arc cover art.
There is Grant (Natsuki Hanae), who is a champion of justice, Bonam (Hiroki Yasumoto), a member of the Longarm Tribe, the dual-sword wielder Sappa (Makoto Furukawa) and Vice-Admiral Prodi (Youhei Tadano), an old friend of Garp.
The past three episodes of "One Piece" jumpstarted the Totto Land arc, but the anime will not be back to it until episode 783, which means that this Marine Rookie arc will be three episodes long.
