OnePlus 2 Specs, Release Date: 'Android Flagship Killer' Receives OTA Update, Is Oxygen OS Enough to Level Competition?
In recent years, Android mobile competition has become pretty tight thanks to the emergence of the Chinese brands that have been releasing quality devices at more affordable prices.
As a result, even perennial favorite Samsung and other brands like LG, Sony and Motorola are doing everything they can in order to remain competitive in the mobile industry.
However, as for Chinese manufacturer OnePlus, the strategy remains the same - unleash quality smartphones at a fraction of other phones' prices.
Just recently, OnePlus unveiled the successor to its OnePlus One handset. As expected, OnePlus 2 has killer specs as well, and boasts an affordable sub $400 price tag, more or less.
And just a few weeks after its release, reports say that the Chinese manufacturer is already rolling out its first update.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered handset is now receiving the Oxygen OS 2.0.1 update, which should be available to owners of the device. However, the report mentioned that OnePlus' servers have been slow mainly due to the number of people downloading the latest version. But with a size of about 1.1GB, expect the download to be slow.
In the report, some of the change logs of the newest Oxygen OS edition brings in some improvements including: a patch for the Stagefright security exploit, better battery performance, and improved user interface logic and coherence.
In addition, there are also several fixes for issues such as the pinch-to-zoom function in Google Photos, the instability caused by Dark Mode in certain apps, and the error that is related to importing and exporting of contacts to and from the SIM card.
Moreover, the update will also bring additional support for global carrier APNs, among other fixes and improvements.
For people who need a refresher, the OnePlus 2 boasts a 5.5-inch display, 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 13MP camera, and a 3,300mAh battery.
