The reports of the speed test had fans and critics pit the OnePlus 3 in a rivalry with the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, both of which have not come out yet. The OnePlus 3 is a newcomer in the mobile smartphone industry and it looks like it has bested one of the most trusted Android-powered phones in the market.

NSeaVoice cited the video by Phonebuff comparing the speed of the Galaxy S7 and the OnePlus 3. The video revealed that the OnePlus 3 finished the first lap in just 1:31 seconds while the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge finished at 1:41. On the second clock, the OnePlus 3 finished at 1:57 and the S7 Edge finished at 2:17.
According to 9to5Google, the video made use of the two models of the Galaxy S7 Edge, one with the Snapdragon chip and the Exynos one. The Exynos did better but when it was compared to the OnePlus 3 with the same Snapdragon 820, the latter prevailed. The reason why the S7 Edge lagged behind the OnePlus 3 may be because of the added memory and the power-consuming QHD panel.

One of the things that is visibly similar in these two phones is its size. They both have the same 5.5-inch display that has AMOLED technology. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is a bit superior because of its use of the Super AMOLED technology, while the OnePlus 3 has the predecessor. However, upon closer inspection, the OnePlus 3 is slightly larger and heavier than the Galaxy S7 Edge. Both smartphones have fingerprint sensors that can unlock it and capable of mobile payments.
The similarities also appear in the internal hardware as well. According to Android Headlines, the US version of the Galaxy S7 Edge houses a Snapdragon 820 quadcore chip and an Adreno 530 GPU, similar to what the OnePlus 3 has.
The OnePlus 3 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 also have the same specs including a Bluetooth v4.2, NFC, WiFi and GPS. They also have USB connection; V2.0 microUSB for the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Type-C port on the OnePlus 3.
The real difference between the two is the price. Digital Trends reports that the OnePlus 3 is only $400. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge costs about $800, double the price for a OnePlus 3.
