OnePlus 5 Specs, News: Flagship Arriving Much Earlier Than Expected?

The OnePlus 5 is one of the most anticipated flagships for this year and has frequently been a subject of reports and rumors lately. According to the latest buzz about the flagship, it will be released as early as next month.

This is much earlier than anticipated as the OnePlus 3 was released June last year. Its upgraded version, the OnePlus 3T, was released back in November.

Reports about this purported April release for the OnePlus 5 remains unfounded, but it will definitely be exciting for fans to see the flagship this early.

It is to be noted that a tech insider revealed on Weibo last year that the OnePlus 5 is slated for release summer, making for a June or July launch.

OnePlus has been tight-lipped about its next smartphone offering although back in December, the company co-founder, Carl Pei, talked a bit about it during his Reddit conversations with fans.

He said that calling their next release OnePlus 5 instead of OnePlus 4 because the number four is considered bad luck in China is "not a bad idea."

This is what the Chinese smartphone company Vivo, which is under BBK Electronics just like OnePlus, actually did — going from Vivo V3 to Vivo V5.

There are also rumors that the OnePlus 5 will have a dual-edged curved display rivaling that of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Another upgrade on the flagship is the purported dual-camera setup.

The OnePlus smartphone will also reportedly pack a massive 4,000 mAh battery, which will allow users to enjoy the OnePlus 5 for longer hours.

A battery pack that huge will also be able to support the alleged Quad HD display that the device will sport. It will, of course, work hand in hand with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor believed to power the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus is yet to confirm the OnePlus 5 so fans will just have to wait for official word from the company. If the April launch is accurate, the waiting game might not be that long.
