OnePlus 5 New Leak Reveals 8 GB and More Flagship Killer-Level Specs

Details about the specifications and the features of the highly anticipated OnePlus 5 have found their way online. If they are any indication, this handset will be a flagship killer.

Chinese site PC Pop claims that the next OnePlus offering will indeed be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with a whopping 8 GB random-access memory (RAM) to boot.

This will be a major upgrade from its predecessor, the OnePlus 3, which had a model that offered 6 GB RAM. There is no mention of the storage capacity although there were previous reports it could go up to 256 GB.

PCPop also claims that the OnePlus 5 will also sport a 5.5-inch display with 2K or quad high-definition (QHD) resolution. The flagship will also get a 3,000 mAh battery, the same as that of its predecessor.

GSM Arena notes that the battery pack is not bigger because OnePlus would like to keep the device slim. After all, the source mentions the OnePlus 5 will only be 7 mm thick, much thinner compared with last year's 7.44 mm profile.

With regard to the imaging department, the device will reportedly come with a 23  dual-lens rear camera complete with optical image stabilization and optical zoom.

This had many excited since on the surface, it seems like a major boost for the OnePlus 5. Its predecessor sported a 16 MP primary shooter.

The selfie snapper of the OnePlus 3 was at 8 MP but this year's model is expected to upgrade that too knowing how big the planned improvement is for the front-facing snapper.

One of the defining features of the OnePlus 5 as per previous reports is its purported dual-edged display. There is no mention of it in the report.

Based on all these revelations, the OnePlus 5 appears to be well-equipped to compete with other flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S8, the iPhone 8 and the LG G6.

It has no release date yet, but fans can expect a summer launch.
