OnePlus 5T Specs Rumors: Next Flagship to Have Larger Screen?
It is being speculated that the OnePlus 5T will sport a much larger screen than the currently available OnePlus 5.
Recently, a smartphone's rendered image -- presumed to represent the OnePlus 5T -- is making rounds online, and it looks closely similar to Samsung's Galaxy S8.
The image was shared by Gizmochina, and the report claimed it was an early design of what the OnePlus 5T would look like. The style of the smartphone in the photo was almost identical to the Galaxy S8's Infinity Edge display design and features. Aside from a nearly bezel-less front side, the smartphone also appeared to have curved edges, which made room for a more usable screen.
On the other hand, GSM Arena casted some doubt on Gizmochina's claim that the rendered image was meant for the OnePlus 5T by saying that it also highly resembled the Oppo F5.
Meanwhile, Gizmochina also stated that most of the available information on the OnePlus 5T's specifications were about its screen. It is important to note, though, that OnePlus has yet to confirm the existence of the device.
There are speculations that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will bump up the display size of the OnePlus 5T to 6 inches to enable it to project a 2,160 x 1,080 pixels resolution. If these reports are accurate, the rumored OnePlus 5T will be sporting an 18:9 screen ratio.
The 18:9 screen ratio is still a very rare feature and is actually exclusive to premium mobile releases such as the LG G6 and Galaxy S8. Now that OnePlus is trying to establish its place in the smartphone race, it is not surprising to see the company joining the bandwagon of flagship handsets with revolutionary large screens.
While OnePlus has not addressed any of these speculations, reports are positive that the company would look forward to releasing a follow up smartphone, especially now that the OnePlus 5 seems to have sold out in the United States.
On the official website of the flagship device, people will find that both the 6 GB and 8 GB variants of the OnePlus 5T are labeled "out of stock." It is the same case for its United Kingdom page. However, in this region, people can still purchase the Soft Gold model.
