Oppo Neo 7 News: A Budget Smartphone That Looks Good

Oppo has unveiled its newest smartphone in India, called the Oppo Neo 7. According to Digital Trends, it joins the league of entry-level phones, but one thing that sets it apart is its "good looks." This is primarily because of how its exterior is designed. Instead of a metal body, the phone is made of individually cut glass sections that give it a reflective and therefore attractive look.

Along with rounded edges, the phone is also relatively thin at 7.5mm only. It is available in two color variants, Ivory White with a gold frame and Midnight Blue with a silver frame.

Under the hood, the device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor running at 1.2GHz, which is paired with 1GB of RAM. Its GPU is an Adreno 306. Its TFT display is at 5 inches, with a quad HD resolution at 540 x 960 pixels. Internal storage is 16 GB, but is expandable to 128 GB via a microSD slot.

The device's cameras are usual for entry level phones. The main rear-facing camera is 8 megapixels with an LED flash, while the secondary selfie camera is a 5 megapixel shooter. A light-sensitive sensor in its front camera allows it to provide additional light for better selfies in low-light conditions. According to NDTV, the device's screen "lights up to brighten selfies in low light condition," a first feature among smartphones.

It has dual SIM support and connectivity options include 4G LTE mainly for India, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G and GPS. Its battery is non-removable and has a capacity of 2,420 mAh. The phone has the following measurements: 142.7 x 71.7 x 7.55 mm and weighs in at 141 grams.

The device will come pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop, with Oppo's own ColorOS 2.1 on top. It was initially released in India and is priced at Rs. 9,990. It is also going to be released in the U.S. and other international markets soon.
