'Orange Is the New Black' Season 4 Spoilers: Where is John Bennett?
"Orange Is The New Black" Season 4 is expected to start airing by June 2016, which is based on when its past seasons were released. Fans of the series were happy to hear in April 2015 that the show was returning for its fourth season.
A Latin Times report rounded up some tidbits about what will likely transpire in the next season based on different reports from different sources.
The first speculation is connected with one character in the series, John Bennett, who is a prison guard played by Matt McGorry. The character was nowhere to be seen in Season 3 and when Vulture spoke to McGorry about whether his character will be returning to the series in the coming season, the actor said he wasn't sure.
"It's the writers' decision about whether or not Bennett is back … I have my fingers crossed that he comes through and is the man that we all hoped he was. But I wouldn't be surprised to find out that wasn't the case. Like me, I guess you'll just have to wait and see."
Another tidbit mentioned in the report is based on recent casting calls the studio made for the series. The call mentioned the need for "Dominican type females" and that they should have not worked in the show previously. It seems that the producers are looking for new inmates and have a particular look they want: "natural hair only, no wigs, waves, extensions, dreads, twists and no unnatural colors." What is not known is how many positions they are looking to fill at Litchfield.
Fans will see more of two characters, namely Carrie "Big Boo" Black played by Lea DeLaria and Maria "Flaca" Gonzales played by Jackie Cruz. These two were promoted from recurring cast to regular cast members.
One of the lead characters, Alex, played by Laura Prepon, may be coming back from the dead, so to speak. Prepon recently took to Instagram and posted a photo ID of herself in an orange jumpsuit with the text: "excited to get out there and make an awesome season."
The last rumor mentioned in the report has to do with the on-screen relationship between prison chef Red and Sam Healy. Kate Mulgrew, who plays Red, recently said in her blog on Entertainment Weekly that Red's relationship with Healy is something that "started as manipulation quickly turned into something real." Michael Harney, who plays Healy, also said that he expects "to have more onscreen moments with Kate Mulgrew" in Season 4.
