Orlando Magic Trade Rumors: Magic Offseason Target List Accidentally Leaked
Under normal circumstances, the Orlando Magic's signing of a D-League player like Patricio Garino shouldn't be making the headlines. It was supposed to be the type of low-key signing that people don't usually notice. But when Garino's agent, Carlos Prunes, tweeted a photo of his client signing the contract, people noticed there were names on the whiteboard behind the Argentine swingman.
Those weren't just random names. They were actually the names of the Magic's trade and free agent targets for the offseason.
There are a lot of stretch forwards on the list, but the most interesting thing written there is probably "Saric (For AG?)." It appears that they are interested in acquiring Philadelphia 76ers forward Dario Saric this summer and they are going to consider giving up a certain "AG" to get him. Well, the only Magic player with those initials is Aaron Gordon and things are about to get a little awkward. It's time for the Magic to go into damage control mode.
"Typically, with rumors and stuff like that, we don't really address them. But this is a unique situation, and I talked to him a little bit this morning, and everybody's good. We're ready to move on," Magic coach Frank Vogel said, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
When Gordon was also asked about the whiteboard slip up and he said he's just going to focus on playing since he really couldn't do anything about it.
"It wasn't for me to see, so for me to see something like that, it brings something that's out of my control into my reality. But that's neither here nor there. My plan and my focus is to play basketball and to enjoy the game of basketball. Anything other than that is out of my control," Gordon said, via the Orlando Sentinel.
Magic general manager Rob Hennigan already noted that the names were simply options for the offseason, but Gordon probably wouldn't forget that the Magic thought about trading him.
