OS X Yosemite Release Date Update: 3rd Beta Out, To Be Released October 2014?
Though Apple's latest desktop operating system, OS X Yosemite, won't officially be launched until sometime this fall, the Cupertino-based company released its third public beta on Sept. 15 to developers and registered Mac owners. The update, which was labeled build "14A361," is available to registered developers who pay a yearly fee of $99 for advanced access to never-been-released software. The public beta can only be installed on Macs running on OS X Mavericks.
The website reports that Apple could release another public beta before it releases the final version of the OS, which will then be made available to all. The release of a third beta is reportedly an indication that Apple could be making some tweaks to the operating system before the release of the iOS 8.

One of the features of iOS 8 and OS X is called "Continuity," and it will allow users who own Macs, iPhones, and iPads to transfer unfinished tasks, like a document or an email, from one device to another.
"Continuity" will also allow users to receive text messages on their Macs, receive phone calls on their Macs, and it will allow an instant Wi-Fi hotspot to be triggered whenever an iPhone is near a Mac without internet connection. It's the ultimate in convenience, which will save Apple device users a lot of time while doing multiple tasks.
An exact launch date has not been confirmed for OS X Yosemite as of the moment, but it could most likely be released on Oct. 22, which was the date when the OS X Mavericks was released last year.
